Late Night Spankings
An R.L. Mathewson Chronicle
“Please, shoot me,” Haley whispered that reverent prayer as she allowed herself to fall face first on the bed, only to quickly roll over onto her side when the scent of the hotel’s bedspread hit her lungs.
Deciding that it was probably in her best interests to ignore that scent, especially since it was either this or getting back in Zoe’s car and rejoining the rest of the cars turning 95 into a parking lot, she closed her eyes, sighed and prayed for morning to come.
“Did you call Jason?” Zoe asked, flopping down on the bed next to her.
“Yes,” she said, knowing that she was pouting and not really caring.
“Is he upset?”
“Yes, yes he is,” she said, sighing heavily as she opened her eyes and pushed herself up into a sitting position.
“Trevor threatened to pack the kids up and come get us,” Zoe said, giving up on lying down and joined her at the edge of the bed where they lazily swung their short legs.
“Jason threatened to lock me up,” Haley added with a fond smile for her mentally unstable husband.
He was so damn sweet sometimes.
“Whose idea was this trip again?” Zoe asked, fighting back a yawn.
“Yours?” Haley said, hoping that her best friend and the poor woman that she’d dragged across state lines would just accept the blame and call it a night.
“Uh huh,” Zoe said with that murderous glare that was starting to worry her.
“I love you?” Haley said with a smile as she pushed her glasses back up her nose, wondering if it was too late to ask the front desk for a second room.
“Pathetic,” Zoe said on a heavy sigh, shaking her head with disgust as she climbed off the bed and grabbed what appeared to be a collection of local restaurant menus.
Haley worried her bottom lip as she glanced at the old alarm clock next to the bed and felt her stomach drop. It was well after midnight and she doubted that there was anything open this late, which meant that they were going to have to hit the vending machine that she’d spotted on the way up here.
Knowing that it was pointless to put this off any longer, she grabbed her purse, prayed that she had enough quarters and headed back towards the long hallway that smelled like feet.
