The Promise

How far would you go to keep a promise?

There were just some things that Reed Bradford never thought that he would do, and falling in love with his best friend’s sister was one of them in this romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author R.L Mathewson.

He never should have made that promise.

He’d barely survived Joey Lawson the first time around, but now, his best friend’s little sister, his one-time neighbor, and the woman that he never should have promised to protect was back.

Reed never should have done a lot of things, like cross that line, but once he did…

There was no turning back.

Joey always had a plan, but unfortunately, mostly for her, sometimes those plans backfired. This time would be no different. After the unfortunate incident that she felt was in her best interest not to think about, she found herself doing the one thing that she’d never survive.

Falling in love with a Bradford.

Reviews for The Promise

It was absolutely hilarious and right inline with the rest of the series. A typical RL Mathewson fun sexy read!! I can’t wait for the next installment!! Keep ‘em coming!!!

This is one of my most favorite authors, I have been reading her books for years now! This series is one of the funniest series I have read! This is yet again another hit! I love the spin on this, highly intelligent female lead you is the biggest klutz and causes major issues throughout her whole life that cause people to riot against her! Seriously, its too funny! I love the Bradford men and the obsession with food! It is even highly entertaining to see how these two sneak about hoping to not let anyone know about their relationship! I know that when I am feeling down that I can open any book in this series and laugh nonstop!

RL Mathewson never fails to live up to a great time. I know that every time I come across a book of hers, I am in for a wonderful weekend where I can put my life on hiatus, put my brain on vacation and have a party with my book, a cup of tea and a good, happy, laugh out loud read. It’s almost therapeutic how happy her books make me, I wish I had people like these in my life, and honestly, for the price of this book, the amount of happy it gives me is unbelievable, I wish I could buy 10 new RL Mathewson books every month. We need the laughs.

So freaking funny!! I haven’t laughed so hard at a book in a long time! I not only laughed out loud there were tears in my eyes and I snorted very loudly twice IN PUBLIC!
I REALLY really enjoyed this book. I think this might be my favorite couple and Shawn and Jen! Ugh love them! Pretty sure this is my new favorite NFH book.
I can’t wait for the next book! I seriously really freaking love this series! I always pre-order or one click buy without even reading the synopsis blurb thingy. R.L. Matheson never lets me down! Ugh LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

I absolutely love this series and this book is an amazing addition to NFH.
The characters had me falling in love all over again. I can’t say enough about how amazing I thought Reed was, nothing better than a man who keeps his promises and isn’t afraid to go after what he wants.
If you like witty banter, steamy goodness, and characters that are so real you feel like you know them….. Then chances are you’ll love this story. As for me, I’m anxiously awaiting the next NFH!

I was SO HAPPY to get the latest Neighbors from Hell book! I’ve missed them so much!
This book is so funny, the humor so droll. It really, really is.
The back and forth between the characters is so cute and funny. With all the glaring and squinty eyes, you still feel the affection between them.
I highly recommend this book. It’s a funny, warm, feel good story to curl up with to block the world away. It’s like your favorite soft sweater that is like a warm hug kinda book.

The Promise (Neighbor from Bell Book 10) is a very good and hilarious romantic comedy that earned a rating of five stars. The love story between Reese and Joey was just as good as the other Neighbor from Hell books even down to the kidnapping of the brides. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to everyone who enjoys reading very good romantic comedies.

I loved the book . I could not put it down. You know a book is good when your reading in public and start laughing out loud . And have people looking at you like your crazy . I also love the fact that we got a sneak peek of her next NFH book all while reading the ending of Reese’s and Joey’s story. I can’t wait for her next book . I will definitely been re reading it .

The first time I discovered an R.L. Mathewson book was about two years ago since then I’ve eaten them all up and this one is just another example of why she is my favorite author. There’s just something about her sense of humor and laugh out loud characters that gives such a warm enjoyable feeling. When I’m reading and I laugh out loud, my husband knows that I’m reading R.L. Mathewson book.
The Promise is what I would call an overall great book, with strong characters and amazing humor.

–Mistie

Another great book from my favorite author. I love how hilarious and sexy her stories are. Ms. Mathewson does such a wonderful job in storytelling, but what I really love is how she has created a loving, fun, and caring family that she includes in all her books to keep you connected. Of course, she enjoys torturing us with little teasers from future books from this NFH series and others. She can’t write fast enough for her fans…..She’s fabulous!!!

The Promise

“I said I was sorry!” the little brat who had made his life a living hell yelled while he stood there, glaring at the locked pantry door as his hands twitched with the need to finally give her the spanking that she should have gotten a long time ago.

“No, you didn’t,” he bit out evenly through clenched teeth as the memory of everything the little brat put him through nearly knocked him on his ass.

“Well,” she said, pausing to clear her throat, “it was implied.”

“No, it wasn’t,” he said, narrowing his eyes on the door.

“I tried, but Brian felt that it was for the best if I gave you some space until you were able to get your homicidal urges under control.”

“Then you came back too soon,”he bit out, looking around the kitchen for something to take that damn door down with.

“Oh, come on! You can’t still be mad!”

“Think again,” he said as he considered grabbing that baseball bat so he could bash the door in and spank her ass raw.

“If it makes you feel any better, I sent the frat house that posted that video a strongly worded email,” she said, sounding hopeful.

“It doesn’t,” he said as he rubbed his hands roughly down his face as he stared at the door, debating his next move and wondering if getting revenge after twelve years was worth losing his job, going to prison and having to worry about dropping the soap for the rest of his life. Totally worth the risk, he decided as he grabbed hold of the doorknob and slammed his shoulder against the door.

“Wait. What are you doing?” came the hesitant question

Slam!

“Maybe we should talk about this?

Slam!

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry! Oh, my god, I’m sorry!” the little demon screamed when the door finally gave way with a satisfying crack.

Shoving the broken door aside, he stepped inside the pantry and took in the small muddy mess plastering herself against the shelves, noting the scrawny little brat that had been nothing more than knobby knees, pointy elbows, and ink stained fingers was gone and in her place was this small frumpy woman, who barely came up to his shoulder, an overabundance of curves that put her on the plump side, messy, mud-caked hair, crystal blue eyes, and plump pink lips that were working soundlessly as she struggled to come up with some bullshit excuse to get her out of the spanking that she deserved. Deciding that he’d waited long enough, he grabbed the little brat and dragged her out of the pantry and headed for the old kitchen table where he’d learned how to read and write, pulled out a chair, sat down and-

“Wait! We can talk about this!”

-yanked the little brat down across his lap, raised his hand and-

“You promised!” she shouted somewhat hysterically as she tried to wiggle her way free as her words slammed into him and when they did, he shoved her off his lap with a curse.

Growing up, R.L. Mathewson was a painfully shy bookworm. After high school, she attended college, worked as a bellhop, fast food cook, and a museum worker until she decided to take an EMT course. Today, R.L. Mathewson is the single mother of two children that keep her on her toes. She has a bit of a romance novel addiction as well as a major hot chocolate addiction and on a perfect day, she combines the two.

In 2019/2020, R.L. Mathewson will be publishing Devastated, the first Anger Management novel, Tall, Dark & Furious, the 6th installment to the Pyte/Sentinel series, Irresistible, the long anticipated novel for the Neighbor from Hell Series as well as many more books throughout the year, paranormals, contemporaries, and YAs.
