Baking 101: Part VI
An R.L. Mathewson Chronicle
Oh, he’d seriously fucked up and when the rest of the men in his family found out, he-
Well, he wouldn’t have to worry about what that calculating expression on his wife’s face meant, because they would kill him. That was probably for the best, he decided as he shifted to the right to test out a theory and yup, she followed the move with a glare that told him everything that he needed to know.
It was time to get the fuck out of Dodge.
The problem was that he couldn’t just walk out on his wife even with a piss poor excuse like he had to run to the store, because he would never do that to her. There was also the small fact that she’d kill him before he made it to the door. Maybe he could talk his way out of this? he thought as hope sparked in his chest only to die a painful death seconds later when he saw her beautiful eyes tear up and her little chin began to wobble.
He could handle a lot of things, yelling, things thrown at his head, her coming at him with a butcher knife, a kick to the balls, but the one thing that he couldn’t handle were tears. They fucking broke him each and every time, leaving him feeling like the biggest asshole on earth. He’d do anything, absolutely anything to avoid this.
Even risk his own life.
With that in mind, he blindly reached over towards the table, grabbed something squishy, he didn’t know what it was and didn’t want to know, and after sending up a silent prayer, hoping that his family knew how much he loved them, he squeezed his eyes shut tightly and shoved his wife’s baked good in his mouth.
“No! Don’t do it, Trevor!” he heard his wife scream in horror, but it was too late.
The damage had been done.
It was only a matter of time now, but at least he wouldn’t have to watch her cry, he told himself as an acidic slime oozed from the baked good dissolving in his mouth with an odd fizz, letting him know that he was in for one hell of a night.
