Baking 101: Part II

An R.L. Mathewson Chronicle

She couldn’t lie to save her life, Trevor mused with a smile as the bossy little thing that he loved more than anything held him captive as she gave him a kiss that had him forgetting the reason that he was here and had him thinking about taking his very pregnant wife up against the wall. It didn’t matter that it was physically impossible to do, he wanted her in the worst way and he was damn well going to have her.

At least, that’s what he’d planned on doing before he’d felt one of the babies that she was carrying nudge his arm where it rested against her large belly. It was just what he needed to clear his head and help him focus on what was important…

Finding out what his wife was up to.

With that in mind, he removed his hand from between her legs, pausing only long enough to send a silent apology to the part of him that hadn’t been allowed to go near her for the last three months, and forced himself to focus. Soon, he promised the little bastard jerking angrily against his fly. Knowing that it was pointless, and not to mention fucking insane, to argue with the needy little bastard, he reluctantly pulled away from her.

“Why’d you stop?” Zoe asked, sounding a little dazed as she re-threaded her fingers through his hair and tried to yank him down to the continue the kiss that was threatening to dissolve his promise to himself that he wouldn’t touch her again until after the babies were born and the doctor gave him the all-clear.

“Because we can’t do this,” he reminded her with a kiss against her cheek in apology, because he knew that this was hard on her as well.

She sighed heavily as she released her hold on him. “I know,” she mumbled, not sounding particularly happy about it, but the sweet little smile that she threw him told him that everything would be okay.

“So,” he said, putting a little space between them so that he didn’t do something incredibly fucking stupid, “you don’t want me to stay?”

“I’ll never get any work done,” she said with a slight pout that had him smiling as he took her small hand in his.

“That’s true,” he had to admit, because he knew that if he stayed that they would probably torture themselves with a little groping and kissing that was going to make resisting her all the more painful.

“I just want to catch up on work before the babies come,” she said, which he knew was true, but he didn’t believe for one second that’s what she had planned for today.

“It’s probably a good idea,” he conceded as his mind raced with a thousand possibilities, trying to figure out what the little woman was trying to hide from him.

“Yes, yes it is,” she said with a nod and a nervous look in her eye that told him that his suspicions were correct.

She was definitely up to something…

He could press the issue, but he knew that she wouldn’t cave as easily as she used to thanks to the fact that he couldn’t use sex to weaken her resolve, he was going to have to try a different tactic, something that he was probably going to end up going to hell for, but she really hadn’t left him much of a choice, now had she?

Hoping this year. Lucifer’s book is further along, because I’ve been working on it on my phone over the past year. So, that one will probably be first just because it’s closer to being done.

Yay!!! I am really excited to read Lucifers book. I love reading about hard hearted men turning all mushy for that one special woman.

Thank you for writing the Chronicals I can’t tell you enough how much I enjoy reading this every Sunday and even more when it involves my favorite couple. I’m looking forward to next week. Will we read the birth of the babies in a Chronical or is it an upcoming book. Thanks 🙂

I love reading your chronicles every week!!! This week I was so eager I kept looking for it on Saturday forgetting that it wasn’t Sunday. LOL. You’re such a tease! I can’t wait to see what you write next week. Just reading how poor Zoe trys to hide her secret from Trevor, and how Trevor trys to find out what it is that she’s hiding from him is absolutely amusing!! I’m also wondering if you are going to write about the birth of the babies ? in the chronicles or if we’re going to have to wait for it in a book??? ? Please don’t make us wait!!!! Again, like always, you’re the most amazing writer I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading your books!!!! Thank you for sharing your talent with the world!!!! Have an absolutely wonderful week!

You know, the reason why I love Perfection is because of the cover(the original one) and what it made me realize (*cough* do not judge le cover *cough*). When I saw it at goodreads with high ratings and a very simple cover, I asked myself if I should go and read it. Reading it is one of the best things I have ever done. I am fascinated that such a book with a simple cover has a very fascinating story, I was really surprised and I treasured that book and the series forever.

    So thank you.
